Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan is celebrating 10 years helping almost 10,000 girls in the Southeastern Michigan area improve their self-esteem through a character development program that combines life skills lessons with training for a 5k.

During these 10 years, we've grown from just 92 girls to nearly 3,000 girls at 55 schools in 5 counties in 2012.

We have so many reasons to celebrate:

  • We believe that every girl can embrace who she is, can define who she wants to be, can celebrate differences, can rise to any challenge, CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
  • Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan will serve at least 3,000 girls and families at 55 different locations in 5 counties in 2012. That is incredible growth from the 92 girls we served in 2002!
  • Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan raises all of its funds independently, relying solely on the support of local individuals, businesses and organizations. We do our best to provide a scholarship to any family that requests one. To date, we have never had to turn a girl away!
  • Through the continued support of generous donors who believe in nurturing today's youth, Girls on the Run will continue to expand our program ultimately providing every girl in our community the opportunity to participate.
  • Funds raised at the Lit From Within: Our 10 year Anniversary Gala will help us expand our reach to more communities in southeastern Michigan and support the increased need for program scholarships.
